This is the prototype I created to test the feasibility of a chest of drawers constructed of bookbinding materials. The box is constructed of heavyweight binder board, pva adhesive, wrapping paper and grosgrain ribbon. I referenced Annette Hollander’s Easy-to-Make Decorative Boxes and Desk Accessories.

It turned out quite well and definitely increased my boxmaking confidence. I didn’t figure in the thickness of the covering material because it was so thin, but I know I will have to consider that factor when building the actual product. I’m very happy with it and have already put it to work!
